- What is your vision of a new humanity?
- The vision I share with many is of compassion, service and connection with humanity, our natural world and our planet. It is a vision in which all paths are respected and there are no secret passwords or languages - just love and compassion.
If you have read this far, please join the local group I am forming with Martha Foster in the Chicago area and/or invite me as a "friend." I can use all the ANH friends I can find!
- About Me:
- I am a teacher, writer, human sustainability advocate, healthcare practitioner and former environmental health lawyer. Most important, I am the father of three wonderful adult children and a student of many spiritual and wisdom traditions.
My personal projects include:
-- http://anhglobal.ning.com/group/chicagonorthshoreanh - connecting with others in the Chicago/NorthShore area to further the values of ANH;
-- www.letv.org - creating a Non-Profit, Non-Commercial Global Public Television Network; Yes, it is audacious, but, with a lot of help, we will do it!
-- www.divineprimates.com - One of my projects as a Human Sustainability Advocate, using a fuller understanding of human nature in order to fashion more functional cultures. Basically, unlike our ancestors, who learned to live within the constraints of the natural world, we humans have created an open-ended cultural system in which our intelligence, rather than the natural systems to which we belong, is the center of the universe. Sound like we are a bit too full of ourselves?
Thus, we have an inadequate understanding of our own role in our crises - much like a teenager who can't understand that the world doesn't revolve around their perception of their needs and desires. In order to make more rational decisions, we need to better understand our nature as being wonderful, brilliant primates, rather than a race of divine computer creatures :-) As we begin to understand our limitations as a species (that we will always be prone to corruption by power and that we will always be attracted to quick fixes that may cause more problems than they solve), we will be more diligent in ensuring that our cultures contain more safeguards to protect us from our own nature, as wonderful as it is!

thanks for your effort in organizing the chicago ANH group. I was wondering if there were any meetings planned. Ive never played a digeredoo but would love the chance, never done yoga but always up for a try.

The reception on Wednesday, November 11th will truly be an inspiring evening featuring President Clinton and a special live performance by Chicago native and GRAMMY award winner COMMON. The event will also include complimentary hor'dourves and bar. All funds raised at the event will go towards supporting the initiatives of the William J. Clinton Foundation.
